Soccer Game Preview: Nitro vs. Hurricane + Official Tickets

The Nitro Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Hurricane Redskins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Nitro knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Hurricane likes a good challenge.

Nitro is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Woodrow Wilson, who was ranked 21st at the time (Nitro was ranked ninth). The Wildcats put the hurt on the Flying Eagles with a sharp 7-2 win on Thursday. With Nitro ahead 5-1 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Their offense was hitting Woodrow Wilson from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Sophie Lawson led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hurricane, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Herbert Hoover 1-0 on Thursday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Hurricane were the better team in the second half.

Nitro's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matchups. As for Hurricane, their record is now 12-4-1.
