Softball Game Preview: Xavier Saints vs. Wahlert Golden Eagles

The Xavier Saints are taking a road trip to take on the Wahlert Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Xavier's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Wednesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Xavier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Linn-Mar, who was ranked seventh at the time (Xavier was ranked second). The Saints fell 7-2 to the Lions on Monday.

Meanwhile, Wahlert had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Wahawks 7-5.

Wahlert's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Xavier, their loss dropped their record down to 31-4.
