Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Santa Fe Catholic

Santa Fe Catholic had won four straight games and Tate Darner did his part to make it five on Saturday. The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks blew past the Maclay Marauders, posting a 59-31 win thanks in part to Darner, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Toby Lane, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Maclay lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Avery Coffin, who had nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Beshears, who earned eight points and three steals.

Santa Fe Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Maclay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Santa Fe Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 88-54 victory against Lake Wales on the 28th. As for Maclay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 51-49 win against North Florida Christian on the 28th.
