Softball Recap: Cedaredge Starts Season with Victory Against Montezuma-Cortez

Cedaredge had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers 21-2. For the Bruins, this counts as revenge for the 20-5 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Tia Homedew made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jewel Laliberte was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kimbry Hebert, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cedaredge beat Montezuma-Cortez by a score of 15-8 later that day.
