Baseball Recap: Zionsville Eagles vs. Noblesville Millers

Zionsville had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 13-14 to make it four. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Noblesville Millers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Millers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Wednesday.

Zionsville got a good showing from Ayden Keith, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Keith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Zionsville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Cope, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Noblesville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

On Noblesville's side, Brooks Muse looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Ethan Clark was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Stidham, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Zionsville will take on McCutcheon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Noblesville will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' matchup: after the Eagles face off against the Mavericks, they'll take on Noblesville again at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
