Recap: Kennedy Thunderbirds vs. Shafter Generals
The Kennedy Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 90-21 loss at the hands of Shafter. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kennedy in their matchups with Shafter: they've now lost seven in a row.
Kennedy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Imaree Curry, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Valeria Payan-Medina, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Kennedy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Shafter, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-5.
Kennedy will head out on the road to face off against Chavez at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy is coming into the matchup with five straight losses on the road, meaning Chavez will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Shafter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Wasco at 6:15 p.m. Wasco will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1264th, while Shafter is ranked 244th).
