Soccer Game Preview: Banks County vs. Oglethorpe County

The Banks County Leopards will square off against the Oglethorpe County Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Banks County will be strutting in after a victory while Oglethorpe County will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Banks County needed a bit of extra time to put away Commerce. They walked away with a 4-2 win over the Tigers. It was an even better day for Tristan Guinn as he scored three goals for his team.

Something new happened on Friday as Eric Nava saw his first action of the season, playing 80 minutes against Commerce. Nava made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Oglethorpe County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Providence Christian Academy, falling 12-0. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Storm are ranked 54th).

Banks County's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5. As for Oglethorpe County, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-5.

Banks County came out on top in a nail-biter against Oglethorpe County in their previous meeting back in March of 2020, sneaking past 1-0. Does Banks County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oglethorpe County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
