Baseball Game Preview: Calhoun County Cougars vs. Monroe Tornadoes

Calhoun County is 0-3 against Monroe since April of 2025 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Tornadoes at 5:30 p.m. Monroe took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Calhoun County, who comes in off a win.

Calhoun County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They didn't even let Randolph-Clay on the board, marking the Cougars' second-straight 7-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Monroe came up short against Chattahoochee County on Monday and fell 11-7.

Kyle Vicks and Glendalys Harvey did some serious damage despite the final result: Vicks went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Harvey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Vicks has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Shorter, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Calhoun County's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.

Calhoun County might still be hurting after the 21-1 defeat they got from Monroe in their previous matchup on Wednesday. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
