Basketball Recap: St. Bernard Takes a Loss

If St. Bernard was riding high fresh off their 63-28 takedown of San Gabriel Mission last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Bernard Vikings took a blow against the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors on Tuesday, falling 62-16. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1237th, while the Warriors are ranked 543rd).

Despite the defeat, St. Bernard saw an underclassman step up: freshman Caylan Versher posted ten points.

St. Bernard's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

St. Bernard has already played their next match (against Paraclete), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Mary Star of the Sea.
