Soccer Game Preview: Minarets vs. Yosemite

Minarets hasn't had much luck against Yosemite recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Minarets Mustangs will be playing at home against the Yosemite Badgers at 6:30 p.m. Minarets is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Minarets lost 11-1 to Fresno Christian on Friday. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 6-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Allison DeMasters, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Yosemite, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Chowchilla onto the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Badgers, who have now won seven matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Yosemite is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those six games. As for Minarets, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6-2.

Minarets might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Yosemite when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Minarets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
