Preview: Gridley Bulldogs vs. Corning Cardinals
Gridley is 8-2 against Corning since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Gridley Bulldogs' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Corning Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Gridley will be strutting in after a win while Corning will be coming in after a loss.
Gridley posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Las Plumas 37-35.
Gridley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of AnaGloria Luevano, who scored 13 points, and Brook Marr, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 blocks. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Marr has scored at least a third of Gridley's points.
Meanwhile, Corning's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 12th straight loss. They were dealt a 52-25 defeat at the hands of Orland. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Corning in their matchups with Orland: they've now lost five in a row.
The victory got Gridley back to even at 11-11. As for Corning, they dropped their record down to 1-19 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road.
Gridley was able to grind out a solid win over Corning in their previous matchup on January 9th, winning 36-24. Does Gridley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Corning turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
