Baseball Recap: Groves Comes Up Short

Groves extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-10. They came up short against the Liberty County Panthers, falling 15-0. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 18-1 to the Panthers when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Liberty County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

For Liberty County's part, Shedrick Pass was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Pass posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Liberty County got a massive performance out of Hunter Lites, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Lites a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Glemon English, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Liberty County beat Groves by a score of 21-4 later that day.
