Baseball Recap: Weston Wins Going Away Against Kickapoo

Weston never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Kickapoo on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-5 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 last Monday.

Trevor Westphal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Weston is 6-3 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Weston got a big performance out of Jacob Keller, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Keller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Westphal, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Weston's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10. As for Kickapoo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Weston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kickapoo, they will head out to take on Seneca at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
