Basketball Game Preview: Choctaw Yellowjackets vs. Moore Lions

The Choctaw Yellowjackets will venture away from home to take on the Moore Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Choctaw has three straight wins, Moore has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Choctaw beat Norman 55-51. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Yellowjackets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Tigers are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Moore challenged Putnam City North on Tuesday. Moore took a 43-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Putnam City North. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Choctaw's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Moore, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Choctaw didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Moore when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-54 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Choctaw since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
