Soccer Game Preview: Escalon vs. Ripon Christian

The Escalon Cougars will head out to square off against the Ripon Christian Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Monday just wasn't the day for Escalon's offense. They lost 8-0 to Enochs on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while the Eagles are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, Ripon Christian managed to keep up with Ripon until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Ripon Christian came up short against Ripon, falling 3-0.

Ripon Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4-1. As for Escalon, they now have a losing record at 3-4-4.

Escalon came up short against Ripon Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 3-1. Can Escalon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
