After losing to St. Patrick the last time they met, Maxwell decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Irish 2-1 on Saturday.

Maxwell had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-8, 25-17.

Kristyn Cheek paced Maxwell's offense, picking up 17 kills. Cheek got some help from Emory Christensen and her 21 assists. Ellys Gosnell controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Maxwell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for St. Patrick's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Maxwell will face off against Sandhills Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Patrick's has already played their next match (against Ogallala), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
