Soccer Game Preview: Hesperia vs. Oak Hills

Hesperia is 0-10 against Oak Hills since January of 2020 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hesperia Scorpions will head out on the road to challenge the Oak Hills Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m.

Hesperia fell victim to Sultana and their airtight defense on Monday. They lost 3-0 to the Sultans. The Scorpions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Oak Hills had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Diamondbacks by a score of 3-1. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Diamondbacks are ranked 516th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oak Hills used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Serrano. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Mia Bevan (80), Kaylin Huete Ramirez (80), and Ariana Yslas (60). The trio had averaged 53.6, 51.8, and 34.6 minutes respectively before Monday's match. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Bevan scored a goal, while she put up one assist.

Oak Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those eight contests. As for Hesperia, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14-2.

Hesperia might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Oak Hills in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Hesperia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
