Softball Recap: Fountain-Fort Carson Comes Up Short

If Fountain-Fort Carson was feeling good fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Palmer on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans came up short against the Pueblo West Cyclones on Tuesday, falling 12-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Cyclones: they've now lost six in a row.

Danielle Cooley was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Fountain-Fort Carson's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Pueblo West, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Looking ahead, Fountain-Fort Carson will venture away from home to challenge Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.05 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pueblo West, they will welcome Vista Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cyclones' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
