Basketball Recap: Cape Fear Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Cape Fear Christian Academy lost against New Garden Friends back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Garden Friends Bears. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the loss, Cape Fear Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Justin Chestnutt, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Chestnutt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayden Dunkins, who posted ten points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Cape Fear Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Garden Friends only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

New Garden Friends' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kingston Clifton, who put up 24 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clifton has scored at least a third of New Garden Friends' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Russell, who scored 17 points and three steals.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for New Garden Friends, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-10.

Cape Fear Christian Academy has already played their next match (against The O'Neal School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. New Garden Friends didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-45 win against Carolina Day on the 25th.
