Baseball Recap: Cathedral Prep Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Cathedral Prep had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Harbor Creek Huskies 5-3. The Ramblers haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Frank Thomas looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Derick Friedman was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run. AJ Sirianni was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Cathedral Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive games.

Cathedral Prep's record now sits at 17-4. As for Harbor Creek, they moved to 11-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Cathedral Prep will welcome General McLane at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Ramblers 3.1, the Lancers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Harbor Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
