Softball Recap: Cass Wildcats vs. McCook Bison
Cass had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the McCook Bison with a sharp 10-0 win. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 12-3 victory the Bison walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Zoey Powles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Anslee Peters was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Preslee Kiss was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Cass was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCook only posted a batting average of .250.
McCook's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Cass wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against Wilber-Clatonia on the 23rd. As for McCook, they have also already played their next match, an 11-3 defeat against St. Paul on the 23rd.
