Preview: Sonora Raiders vs. La Habra Highlanders
Sonora is 10-0 against La Habra since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sonora Raiders will play host again and welcome the La Habra Highlanders, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Sonora strolled past Troy with points to spare, taking the game 59-40.
Kiana Graham continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Lewis, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, La Habra stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Fullerton with a sharp 59-33 win. Given La Habra's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Fullerton is ranked 578th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sonora pushed their record up to 11-11 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for La Habra, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
Everything came up roses for Sonora against La Habra when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 68-36 victory. Will Sonora repeat their success, or does La Habra have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
