Softball Recap: Six Straight Road Victories for Union Grove

After only one run in their last match, Union Grove made sure to put some runs up on the board against Woodland on Tuesday. The Wolverines' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolfpack a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Alisha Cattuzzo looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aniyah Griffin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Jordan, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Union Grove pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.

Coincidentally, Union Grove and Woodland will both be playing Jones County the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will host the Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Wolfpack will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
