Basketball Game Preview: Upper Perkiomen Indians vs. Pottsgrove Falcons

After both having extra time off, the Upper Perkiomen Indians and the Pottsgrove Falcons will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Upper Perkiomen came up short against Fleetwood and fell 39-29. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Pottsgrove was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 40-29 to Sun Valley. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Upper Perkiomen will have to contain Ava Leaman as she made an impact in Pottsgrove's last game. She posted eight points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Thelia Dellaquila, who earned six points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Pottsgrove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Upper Perkiomen's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Pottsgrove, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Upper Perkiomen was able to grind out a solid victory over Pottsgrove in their previous meeting back in January, winning 41-32. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Pottsgrove's Jessica Carroll, who had 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.
