Two dominant backs in Cooper Reves and Jaxson Green are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Salina Central Mustangs will host the Andover Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salina Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Andover Central likes a good challenge.
Salina Central's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Newton 42-0. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Railroaders: they've now won four in a row.
Griffin Hall had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 45 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Salina Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 274 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Another reason for the win was Salina Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Jesus Delgado was especially locked on to Newton's QB and sacked him twice. Delgado also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 15.
Meanwhile, Andover Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 31-23 to Goddard.

Andover Central's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Salina Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Salina Central has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 296 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Andover Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 194 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Salina Central suffered a grim 31-7 defeat to Andover Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
