Softball Recap: Lincoln Southwest Snags 13th Victory in Last 14 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Lincoln Southwest rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Bellevue East Chieftains 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Silver Hawks have posted since September 19th.

Maisey McCarty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lincoln Southwest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Yoder, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Lincoln Southwest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Bellevue East, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-10.

Lincoln Southwest has already played their next matchup, a 6-0 win against Omaha Westside on the 15th. As for Bellevue East, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Millard West on the 16th.
