Basketball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Comes Up Short

Canyon Crest Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 74-56 bruising from the Torrey Pines Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 588th, while the Falcons are ranked 68th).

Torrey Pines had a senior duo take command as Zain Mehio dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards and Cody Shen went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Mehio a new career-high in steals (four). Amir Sadeghi was another key player, putting up six points along with five assists and four steals.

Canyon Crest Academy now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Torrey Pines, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon Crest Academy will challenge Westview at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Torrey Pines, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mt. Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
