Basketball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Mission Hills' Winning Streak

After a string of three wins, Mission Hills's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. The game between them and the McClatchy Lions didn't end well, with the Mission Hills Grizzlies falling 71-54. The Grizzlies were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in December of 2022.

Despite the defeat, Mission Hills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bay Cordova went 11 of 23 en route to 27 points and eight boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cordova has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hc Harding, who posted 18 points.

Mission Hills' loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for McClatchy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Mission Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 92-11 victory against Del Norte on the 21st. As for McClatchy, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the McClatchy Lions face off against the Kennedy Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McClatchy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
