Softball Recap: Mercy Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Sioux City on Thursday, Mercy came back down to earth. The Monarchs came up short against the Gretna Dragons on Friday, falling 9-1. The Monarchs were not able to make up for their loss to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in August of 2017.

Mercy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cloe King, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Mercy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gretna, the win was the 40th in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 2-0.

Mercy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-2 loss against Kearney on the 22nd. As for Gretna, they have also already played their next game, a 9-7 victory against Bellevue West on the 22nd.
