The Newnan Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the East Paulding Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. East Paulding took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Newnan, who comes in off a win.
On Wednesday, Newnan needed a bit of extra time to put away Trinity Christian. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lions 11-10. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Piper Willey tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Amelie Leyton was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Newnan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
North Cobb hit East Paulding with a six-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders came up short against the Warriors, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.
Emma Hernandez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Newnan's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-17. As for East Paulding, their loss dropped their record down to 17-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Newnan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like East Paulding struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Newnan skirted past East Paulding 1-0 in their previous meeting back in September of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
