Football Recap: Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Wins Going Away Against Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran

With a playoff win on the line, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop rose to the challenge on Saturday. They took down Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran 26-7. This was a revenge game for the Thunderbirds: when they faced off against Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran back in September, they had to take a 29-8 defeat.

The win made it two in a row for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points in those games. As for Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Looking ahead, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop will face off against Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 9.3 points per game this season, so the Thunderbirds' offense will have their work cut out for them. Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
