Baseball Recap: Rutland Takes a Loss

Rutland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 16-5 to the Pike County Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Monday.

Rutland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Floyd, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Rutland's loss dropped their record down to 7-11-1. As for Pike County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Pirates beat Rutland by a score of 22-7 later that day.
