Basketball Recap: Creighton Comes Up Short

Creighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the St. Mary's Cardinals 68-33. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

It was another big night for Gage Hedstrom, who posted 21 points in addition to seven assists and five steals for St. Mary's. Those seven assists gave Hedstrom a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Barlow, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points.

Creighton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for St. Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season.

Creighton will be playing in front of their home fans against North Central at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Central will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Creighton surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Mary's, they will take on Stuart at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine games.
