Basketball Game Preview: Mica Mountain Thunderbolts vs. Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks

The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ironwood Ridge took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mica Mountain, who comes in off a win.

Mica Mountain took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They strolled past Walden Grove with points to spare, taking the game 71-55.

Meanwhile, Ironwood Ridge entered their contest against Sahuaro on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Ironwood Ridge fell 62-49 to Sahuaro. While losing is never fun, the Nighthawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Cougars are ranked 12th).

Mica Mountain will have to contain Carter Brown as he made an impact in Ironwood Ridge's last game. He posted 22 points and six rebounds. The game was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Overton, who put up eight points.

Mica Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Ironwood Ridge, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.
