Football Game Preview: Penns Valley Area Rams vs. Huntingdon Bearcats

The Penns Valley Area Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Huntingdon Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Penns Valley Area is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Greater Johnstown on Thursday, sneaking past 27-24.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Penns Valley Area to victory, but perhaps none more so than Spencer Althouse, who picked up 78 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one TD on the ground. That's the most receiving yards Althouse has posted since back in August. Fletcher Ironside also helped out with an impressive 99 receiving yards.

Penns Valley Area didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Greater Johnstown to a completion percentage of just 30%. The Rams weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 54.8%.

Meanwhile, Huntingdon strolled past Bedford with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-9.

Huntingdon's win came from a few key players Penns Valley Area will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Evan Edmiston, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 71 receiving yards and one score. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending two passes. Reese Hughes was another key player, rushing for 45 yards.

Penns Valley Area's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Huntingdon, their record now sits at 6-2.

Everything came up roses for Penns Valley Area against Huntingdon in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, as the team secured a 41-14 victory. In that game, the Rams amassed a halftime lead of 27-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
