Baseball Recap: Grayslake Central Takes a Loss

Grayslake Central extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 21-6. They lost 17-2 to the Wauconda Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-4 loss on Wednesday.

As for Wauconda, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Wauconda's part, Luke Sickmeir was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Sickmeir has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Swanson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grayslake Central will welcome Warren Township at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 4, the Blue Devils 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Wauconda, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Forest at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scouts have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
