Football Recap: Hillsborough Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Tariq Johnson and Derrell Hines

After flying high against Brandon two weeks ago, Hillsborough came back down to earth. The Terriers lost to the Sumner Stingrays at home by a 24-7 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Terriers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Stingrays are ranked 52nd).

Despite the loss, Hillsborough had strong showings from Derrell Hines, who picked up 158 receiving yards and one TD, and Tariq Johnson, who gained 87 total yards.

It was another big night for Taesean Robinson, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns for Sumner.

Hillsborough's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sumner, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Hillsborough will be playing at home against Blake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Terriers will need to watch out since the Yellow Jackets have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. As for Sumner, they will head out to challenge Strawberry Crest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
