Basketball Recap: Princess Downes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vaux Big Picture over KIPP Dubois Collegiate Academy

If Vaux Big Picture was riding high fresh off their 43-17 takedown of Strawberry Mansion back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Vaux Big Picture lost 46-22 to KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy on Wednesday. Vaux Big Picture's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Several Vaux Big Picture players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Princess Downes, who posted ten points and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Zaniyah Warren, who had four points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aasiyah Moore, who earned 14 points along with seven blocks and six steals. Moore is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Vaux Big Picture's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, their record is now 7-2.

Vaux Big Picture wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 22-15 defeat against Franklin Learning Center on the 13th. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-38 loss against Philadelphia Performing Arts on the 13th.
