Basketball Game Preview: Williams Yellowjackets vs. Biggs Wolverines

Williams hasn't had much luck against Biggs recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Williams Yellowjackets will take on the Biggs Wolverines at 5:00 p.m.

Williams is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 32nd straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They took a blow against Portola, falling 79-21. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1356th, while the Tigers are ranked 636th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Giselle Torres Salazar, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Biggs over Maxwell in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Biggs blew Maxwell out of the water with a 58-13 final score. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Williams better focus on containing Anna Carothers and Allie Little as the pair were huge in Biggs' win. Carothers put up 20 points in addition to seven steals and five assists, while Little went 8-for-9 on her way to 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Carothers a new career-high in assists. Alice Rayburn was another key player, putting up four points along with five assists and four steals.

Williams' loss dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Biggs, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Williams suffered a grim 46-20 defeat to Biggs when the teams last played back in January. Can Williams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
