Soccer Game Preview: Poway vs. San Marcos

The Poway Titans will venture away from home to square off against the San Marcos Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Poway is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Mission Hills just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, San Marcos had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They beat the Sundevils by a goal, winning 3-2. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Sundevils are ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Marcos hit Mt. Carmel with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Emily Soriano, Sophia Zboyan, and Ava Paolini.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 10-3-1. As for San Marcos, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3-1.

Poway came up short against San Marcos when the teams last played on January 14th, falling 2-0. Can Poway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
