Baseball Recap: Marinette Triumphs

Marinette and Oconto Falls pushed the score to 11-9 the last time they played Oconto Falls, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Marines never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Cooper Smith, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Oconto Falls off the board. Smith has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chase MacGregor was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Marinette is undefeated when MacGregor posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-9 otherwise.

Marinette's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Oconto Falls, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

As of now, neither Marinette nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
