Football Game Preview: Dublin Lions vs. Clifton Cubs

The Dublin Lions will square off against the Clifton Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dublin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Dublin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Eastland, posting a 57-7 victory.

Dublin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Teten led the charge by throwing for 371 yards and six touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes. The Lions' leading receiver Kyson Gilman was Teten's top target yet again, picking up 139 receiving yards and four TDs.

Another reason for the win was Dublin's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cayson Loving, Westin Rollins, and Jayden Balvantin, who each picked up one sack apiece. Edwin Nevarez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Clifton beat Tolar 22-13 on Friday.

Clifton found their leader in freshman Carter Ritz, who threw for 195 yards and one touchdown on only 12 passes, and also picked up 37 receiving yards and one score.

Clifton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Tolar to a completion percentage of just 40.9%. The Cubs weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.5%.

Dublin's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Clifton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
