Baseball Game Preview: McIntosh Chiefs vs. Langston Hughes Panthers

The McIntosh Chiefs will challenge the Langston Hughes Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

McIntosh's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Langston Hughes 15-0. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Chiefs this season.

Will Downing and Alex White made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Downing didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, White tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Downing also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McIntosh is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. At the plate, Downing went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while White scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI Downing has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, JD Raney was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. McIntosh is undefeated when Raney posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Meszar, who scored three runs.

McIntosh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

McIntosh's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Langston Hughes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
