Soccer Game Preview: Garden Grove vs. Calvary Chapel

The Garden Grove Argonauts will square off against the Calvary Chapel Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Garden Grove will be strutting in after a victory while Calvary Chapel will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Garden Grove beat Westminster 3-1. Given the Argonauts' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Lions are ranked 701st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yasmin Alfadhiel and Valeria Luevanos scored all three of Garden Grove's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Santa Ana by a score of 2-1.

Calvary Chapel has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10-1 record this season. As for Garden Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-3 record this season.

Garden Grove beat Calvary Chapel 2-0 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Does Garden Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Calvary Chapel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
