Basketball Recap: Walden Grove Takes a Loss

Walden Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts on the road by a 71-55 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Wolves of the 73-62 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Walden Grove lost, don't look at Mitchel Collins. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Collins a new career-high in rebounds. Malachi Kuti George was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Walden Grove's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Mica Mountain, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7.

Walden Grove will face off against Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Walden Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.7 points per game this season. As for Mica Mountain, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 73-60 victory against Ironwood Ridge on the 23rd.
