Riley Mayfield stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Taylor Turner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, McCluer North strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Hazelwood Central get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. 20 seems to be a good number for the Stars as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Amya Adams made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Adams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Lalia Flowers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Marayah Taylor was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
McCluer North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Hazelwood East's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for McCluer North, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hazelwood East has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .644. However, it's not like McCluer North struggles in that department as they've averaged .687. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
