Basketball Recap: Poly Skates Past Monroe with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Poly). They blew past the Monroe Vikings 77-8 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Parrots have posted since December 9, 2024.

Poly got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xochilt Diaz out in front who posted 19 points and seven steals. With that strong performance, Diaz is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Stephanie Claybon, who went 7 for 9 en route to 14 points and six steals.

Poly's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Monroe, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Poly won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Grant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Poly is facing Grant at the right time seeing as Grant is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Monroe has already played their next game (against North Hollywood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
