Preview: San Leandro Pirates vs. Pinole Valley Spartans
The San Leandro Pirates will square off against the Pinole Valley Spartans at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Pinole Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on San Leandro, who comes in off a win.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but San Leandro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They escaped with a win against Castro Valley by the margin of a single free throw, 49-48. The win was nothing new for San Leandro as they're now sitting on three straight.
Meanwhile, Pinole Valley came up short against Monte Vista on Saturday and fell 52-44. While losing is never fun, Pinole Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Monte Vista is ranked 188th).
San Leandro's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Pinole Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
