Soccer Game Preview: Alhambra vs. Acalanes

The Alhambra Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Acalanes Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alhambra's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Thursday, Alhambra and Clayton Valley Charter finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw. That draw made it three straight for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Acalanes was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to Las Lomas. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Dons came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Knights are ranked 236th).

Acalanes' goal came courtesy of Taylor Mikalis, who's now up to two this season.

With that draw, Alhambra's record moves to 4-5-4. As for Acalanes, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-2-4 record.

Alhambra beat Acalanes by a goal in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 2-1. Will Alhambra repeat their success, or does Acalanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
