Baseball Game Preview: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Skyline Eagles

The Spanish Fork Dons will face off against the Skyline Eagles at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Spanish Fork is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Spanish Fork heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Tuesday. They fell just short of West Field by a score of 11-10. The Dons' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Kayden Lambson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Boston Duvall led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Trigg Cloward, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.

Meanwhile, Skyline earned a 10-6 win over Payson on Tuesday.

Andrew Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Papadakis, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Skyline is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-18 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Spanish Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-4.

Spanish Fork beat Skyline 8-3 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
